PLSS Map

Public Land Survey Systems are used to survey and identify land plots for titles and deeds of rural or undeveloped land. Unfortunately, the irregular shapes of properties as well as trees and other natural land marks die, it is difficult to keep up with accurate descriptions.

Cadastral Map

Cadastral maps show boundaries of and ownerships of land plots or masses. Some may show details such as numbers for parcels, district names, locations of existing structures, lot numbers and even street names. Cadastral maps are also extremely important as sources in lawsuits between disputing landowners.

Thematic maps display a series of a theme or series of qualities. They emphasize spacial variation of one or a small number of geographic distributions. They may vary from physical to human attributes such as climate or population density and health concerns.

Topographic Map

Topographic maps usually show land contours through contour lines. These lines curve and connect continuous points of the same altitude. They can show bodies of water, land, buildings and various other depictions. Every point on the marked line of elevation is that number of meters above sea level.

Planimetric maps represent geographic spaces in a two dimensional way. They can represent anything from highways to bridges, parking lots, sidewalks, bodies of water and even fences.

Mental Map

A person's perception of the world is known as a mental map. A mental map is an individual's own internal map of their known world as this one shows a space based one representation of the artist's view.
